Wells Fargo appoints A. Charles Thomas as chief data officer

wellsfargoWells Fargo announced on Tuesday the appointment of former USAA executive A. Charles Thomas as the company’s new chief data officer, where he will be responsible for data strategy, governance and improving risk management.

Thomas formerly served as the chief data and analytics officer at USAA, before which he ran the research and analytics team, market strategy team and enterprise data warehouse functions.

In his new San Francisco-based role, which he will assume in March, Thomas will report to CIO Kevin Rhein, who also heads the technology and operations division.

“I’m excited to have Charles join the team,” Rhein said. “With more than 15 years of experience in data and analytics, he brings an expertise and vision that will help us further our goals of evolving and improving services we have, or developing new ones based on using information in smart ways for our customers’ benefit.”
