Longtime CEO of Texas-based SWACHA Dennis Simmons was awarded last week for his service and dedication to the support of the U.S. ACH payment network.
Simmons received the Distinguished Service Award at the chairman’s leadership reception at the 2014 PAYMENTS conference in Florida, hosted by NACHA—The Electronic Payments Association.
“Today we are honoring an individual who has been an active volunteer and ardent supporter of the ACH Network and NACHA—and who at times is mistaken as a member of the NACHA staff for his level of involvement in programs and committees across both the Network and Association areas of NACHA,” Pat Thelen, the NACHA chairman and executive vice president and UMB Bank, said.
Simmons has led the organization since 2001, having served as a NACHA board member and chairman of the electronic check council, risk management advisory group and government relations advisory committee.
Additionally, Simmons, has served as a member of the Board of Regents and faculty at The Payments Institute, as well as chairman of the Association Executives’ Leadership Forum of the regional payment associations.
Simmons is also a founding member of the board of directors for the Secure Remote Payment Council and a member of the faculty and advisory council of the Bank Operations Institute at Southern Methodist University. He also served as a member of the executive education advisory council at the University of Texas-Dallas.
