Ramon Martin tapped to head Visa’s merchant sales, solutions division

visa_logo-300x173Ramon Martin was recently appointed by Visa to head the company’s merchant sales and solutions division, where he will be responsible for merchant strategy and providing merchants with products and services to help them reach their business goals.

“Since Visa’s inception the company’s success has been dependent on the strength of our client relationships,” Visa CEO Charlie Scharf said. “Visa’s future will be defined by our ability to enhance our relationships with merchants with emphasis on delivering products and service that offer greater, tangible value to this critical client partner. Ramon’s 30 plus years of experience makes him ideally suited to transform Visa’s merchant offerings and further position Visa as a strategic partner among our merchant clients.”

Martin joins Visa from American Express, where he served for 16 years in various positions—most recently as the president of merchant services for the Americas. Before joining AmEx, Martin served as the commercial director at DHL in Spain and as a consultant at Alexander Proudfoot in Spain and the U.K.

“Visa has an ambitious agenda for engaging merchants in new and innovative ways,” Martin said. “I am impressed by the energy and talent of the team and the global focus of the work. I am eager to contribute to the development of merchant solutions and continuing to expand Visa’s payment leadership.”

Martin received his degree in industrial engineering from the Universidad Politecnica and a master’s degree from the Instituto de Empresa Business School, both of which are located in Spain’s capital of Madrid.
