Retired AmeriChoice Federal Credit Union CEO Kipp Stecher and Charles Lantz, a board member at Pennsylvania-based Hidden River Federal Credit Union, were named winners of lifetime achievement awards by the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association.
Stecher, who retired from AmeriChoice in 2013 after more than 30 years in the credit union industry, was named PCUA’s 2014 Outstanding Credit Union Professional of the Year.
In 1979, he began his career as the manager of IBM Pennsylvania Central Federal Credit Union, which was eventually renamed AmeriChoice and converted its charter from a single select-employee group to a four-county community charter. He also served on the board of the Pennsylvania Credit Union Service Centers and as vice chairman from 2005 to 2008.
Lantz was named PCUA’s 2014 Outstanding Credit Union Volunteer of the Year. He has served on Hidden River’s board for more than 40 years.
He began his career in 1970 when he joined the Schuylkill County School Employees Credit Union board, where he has served as the board president and chairman since 1984. Additionally, he was involved in the Anthracite Chapter of Credit Unions and served as chapter president.
The awards will be presented to Stecher and Lantz during the closing banquet at the PCUA’s annual convention on May 20 in Atlantic City, N.J.
