MasterCard appoints Anna Yip to head Hong Kong, Macau markets

220px-MasterCard_Logo.svgMasterCard announced on Monday the appointment of Anna Yip as the head of its Hong Kong and Macau divisions, where she will be responsible for company performance across the two markets.

Yip, a Hong Kong native, joined the company last year as head of Greater China at MasterCard Advisors, where she led the business’ operation and growth in the region.

As head of MasterCard’s Hong Kong and Macau markets, she will be responsible for developing strategy for the local market and building business relationships with financial institutions.

“We are delighted that Anna has taken on this important role,” Ling Hai, the division president of Greater China at MasterCard, said. “With her extensive experience, proven track record and in-depth knowledge of the industry, we are confident that she will be able to grow our business. Her appointment also reinforces our long-term commitment to these two markets.”

Before joining MasterCard, Yip served as the managing director for corporate planning and international strategy at United Overseas Bank in Singapore. She was also a partner with McKinsey & Co. in Greater China, where she founded and led Asia Retail and Wholesale Payments and co-led the Asia Financial Institutional Group.

During her 12-year career at McKinsey, she advised banks, non-bank institutions and funds on organizational issues, mergers and acquisitions and strategy.
