Kathy Thomson, a longtime employee and interim leader at the Idaho Credit Union League, was recently named the president and CEO of the organization, following the departure of Chris Johnson last month.
“Kathy is a capable, devoted and hard-working professional,” Shane Berger, the league board chairman and president and CEO of Beehive Federal Credit Union in Rexburg, said. “We have great confidence that she will lead our trade association to future success.”
Since joining the league in 1973, Thomson has served the organization in a number of capacities. She is a credit union development educator and holds designations as both a certified credit union executive and certified league executive.
Thomson said credit unions must be able to focus on serving their members while the ICUL works to support policy and initiatives that bolster credit unions.
“I truly believe in the power of credit unions to change their members’ lives,” Thomson said. “I believe Idaho credit unions need the Idaho Credit Union League to do that.”
According to data from the National Credit Union Administration, Idaho led the nation in loan and membership growth during the third quarter of 2013– membership at Idaho credit unions rose 15.2 percent, followed by 12.6 percent growth in Rhode Island.
