Rajat Taneja, the former CTO of Electronic Arts, recently joined Visa as the executive vice president of technology, where he will be responsible for the company’s global technology and engineering operations, as well as research and development.
“Rajat brings over 20 years of experience as an established global technology executive, and I believe he will play a pivotal role in defining how Visa can take advantage of new innovations, collaborate with technology leaders, grow our business and drive even greater value for our merchant and financial institution clients,” Visa CEO Charlie Scharf said. “I am confident that Rajat will build on Visa’s 50 years of innovation and continue to expand our best-in-class payments network.”
During his time at EA, Taneja was responsible for the company’s engineering and data center operations, as well as global technology and investment decisions. Before joining EA, he worked at Microsoft for 15 years, where he last served as the vice president of commerce.
In the position of commerce VP at Microsoft, Taneja oversaw the development and deployment of Microsoft’s online commerce and service platforms for MSN, Office 365, Windows Phone, Azure and Xbox Live.
Taneja holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from India’s Jadavpur University and a master’s in business administration from Washington State University.
