Payments association SWACHA announced last week that Chet Kimmell, the president and CEO of Neighborhood Credit Union, was elected to a second three-year term on NACHA’s Board of Directors.
Kimmell, 54, is a long-time member of SWACHA who has served on its board since 2001, and in the capacity of chairman in 2007. NACHA’s–or The Electronic Payments Association–board consists of 19 members from NACHA member institutions.
“I am honored to be elected to the NACHA board for a second term, and I look forward to continuing to work with the members of NACHA to ensure there is a voice at the table for community financial institutions of all sizes,” Kimmell said.
Kimmell has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at El Paso and a master’s degree from Texas Tech University. In 1993, he joined Neighborhood Credit Union after practicing as a certified public accountant.
Since 1995, Kimmell has served as the president and CEO of Neighborhood Credit Union, which has over 30,000 members and more than $300 million in assets. He also serves on the board of directors at Town North Bank and on the Texas Credit Union League’s PAC Advisory Committee.
“Chet is a consensus builder, capable of bringing different factions together for the benefit of all credit unions and other financial institutions in Texas,” SWACHA CEO Dennis Simmons said. “Our organization has benefited greatly from his leadership and his business-savvy, and we are thrilled he has the opportunity to continue to offer these to our industry on a national level.”
