Global online payments provider 2Checkout announced on Wednesday the appointment of Shawn Budde as the company’s CEO after a months-long search for potential candidates.
Buddge, who has more than 25 years of experience in finance, has held executive roles at Citibank and Capital One. He also has experience in data analytics, and he is the co-founder and president of tech firm ZestFinance, where he joined forces with Google’s former CIO to revamp lending methods based on big data analysis.
“Online payments has followed the meteoric rise of e-commerce and 2Checkout is one of the global leaders in this space,” Budde said. “I look forward to helping lead the company in its next phase of hyper-growth. Online payment companies like 2Checkout work on thin margins and high transaction volumes. The winners will be those that know how to optimize every dimension of their business from underwriting to transaction processing—ultimately driving the greatest value for the merchant.”
Budde said he plans to implement similar global changes at 2Checkout to push the company’s expansion in online payments.
“On behalf of our investors and employees, I’m thrilled to have Shawn join 2Checkout and build on the success we’ve had to date,” former 2Checkout CEO Tom Dailey, who will remain on the company’s board of directors, said.
