Planet Payment, Banorte integrate MICROS Payment Gateway

Planet Payment logoInternational payment processor Planet Payment and Mexican bank Banorte announced last week the first implementation in Mexico of the MICROS Payment Gateway, which will be integrated with Planet Payment’s Pay in Your Currency service.

Pay in Your Currency allows international customers to pay in their home currency, allowing merchants to reduce processing costs incurred on multi-currency transactions.

“Planet Payment’s goal is to deliver innovative payment solutions to acquiring banks and their merchants,” Planet Payment Chairman and CEO Philip Beck said. “The MICROS solution integrated with Pay in Your Currency service announced today is another example of this commitment. Now hotels in Mexico can enjoy the operational efficiencies that flow from an integrated payment solution as well as offer their international guests an enhanced customer service by allowing them to check-out and pay in their home currency.”

Banorte’s launch of the MICROS Payment Gateway, which is hosted and operated within Planet Payment’s data center, allows for integrated support for the MICROS suite of products.

By processing payments directly through the hotel’s property management system, merchants are able to cut operational expenses, streamline audit reconciliation and facilitate EMV and PCI compliance.

“We are excited to join forces with Banorte and Planet Payment in Mexico, enabling our current and future MICROS customers to provide a better experience to their guests while strengthening their operations,” MICROS Latin America and Caribbean President Bernard Jammet said. “This is one of several approaches MICROS offers to address the ever changing world of electronic and mobile payments.”
