New service allows tenants to pay rent via mobile devices

ProPayTSYS’ ProPay announced on Wednesday a new service to allow tenants to pay rent via their mobile devices, as well as communicate with their property management company and submit maintenance requests.

The service is available instantly through any smartphone device, and no login or app download is required.

“There are almost 50 million Generation Y Millennials (ages 18-34) in the rental market, and roughly 80 percent own smartphones,” William Evick, the CEO of Aptexx, which will be used to power the service, said. “For property managers to remain competitive, they must adapt to the mobile renter. The majority of the property management industry is using software that was built over a decade ago for PCs and laptops; software that simply doesn’t work well on smartphones. We’ve solved that problem.”

Property managers can also accept application fees and security deposits through any tablet or mobile device using the ProPay JAK.

Aptexx is the first mobile software-as-a-service provider that uses HTML5 technology and responsive web design to provide mobile rent payments, all of which are FDIC-insured, for the property management industry.

“ProPay is a mobile payments leader and innovator, and our partnership with Aptexx is one more example of how we provide creative ways to extend the value of payments,” ProPay President Greg Pesci said. “Combining ProPay’s data security and payment processing platform with the property management expertise of the Aptexx team, we have created a revolutionary mobile rent payment service.”
