MasterCard extended its global reach even further last week with the introduction of its MasterPass digital wallet technology in Poland.
uPaid will be among the first to use the MasterPass platform to power its uPaid wallet. uPaid will switch its current MasterCard Mobile users to the wallet, according to a Mastercard press release.
“In the recent years we have successfully supported the MasterCard Mobile project as part of which more than 30,000 users relied on mobile payments in that technology,” uPaid CEO Marcin Kopys said. “I am glad that as MasterCard’s partner we are able to be the first to allow our customers access to a new shopping experience at more than 500 Polish merchants as part of MasterPass.”
Users will have access to the improved platform at more than 40,000 MasterPass merchants worldwide, and merchants can expand their sales to consumers in North America, England, Australia, China, Italy, New Zealand and Singapore.
“At MasterCard we have always valued innovative payment technologies,” Bartosz Ciolkowski, the general country manager of Poland at MasterCard Europe, said. “The launch of MasterPass is the evidence of this approach. It is an excellent tool facilitating shopping experience to both consumers and merchants. Thanks to that we are able to offer new quality to dynamically growing e-commerce entities in that way, opening global markets to Polish shops and consumers.”
