VeriFone announced on Tuesday that Point and Handelsbanken will provide a mobile payment managed services solution to micro-merchants and other small businesses in Sweden.
Handelsbanken will use VeriFone’s EMV-compatible PAYware Mobile devices and managed services to deliver a branded mobile payment service.
“Leading banks such as Handelsbanken are developing new payment services to serve the needs of new micro merchants and other small businesses that want to utilize smartphones and tablet devices for payment acceptance,” Bard Ljostad, the managing director of Sweden at Point, said. “Point services built on VeriFone’s proven mobile payments technology provide a complete and secure mobile solution that enables banks to meet these emerging needs with a trusted brand.”
Point provides electronic payment solutions in Europe that process 10 million transactions per day. Point has more than 800 employees and a presence in Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden.
