American Express announced on Wednesday the expansion of OptBlue, its merchant acquisition program, to include First Data, EVO, Merchant e-Solutions and First American Payment Systems.
OptBlue allows participants to provide small U.S.-based merchants with a single statement process, along with one contact for all the major credit card brands. The program was first announced earlier this year at American Express’ working meeting with Vantiv, Global Payments, Heartland Payment Systems, JetPay and WorldPay.
“OptBlue is part of American Express’ ongoing commitment to enhance the U.S. small merchant experience and is an evolution of our acquiring business,” Ed Jay, the executive vice president of merchant services in the Americas at American Express, said. “The program will help deliver a smart and easy solution for U.S. small merchants to enjoy the benefits of American Express Card acceptance while making it convenient for consumers to Shop Small year round.”
To be eligible for the program, interested parties must be small U.S. merchants with less than $1 million every year in American Express charge volume.
