Ingenico’s ROAM announced on Tuesday that its RP350x Chip & Sign Mobile Card Reader will be among the first certified as Visa Ready, allowing merchants to accommodate magnetic stripe cards, as well as newer EMV chip-based cards.
The reader is available from ROAM’s acquirers, financial institutions, independent sales organizations and payment services providers, which the company expects will put more mobile readers in the hands of merchants than any other vendor.
The Visa Ready Program allows market participants to more easily navigate the payments system, giving certified partners access to Visa IP, licenses and best practices.
“The ability to label our readers ‘Visa Ready’ gives our channel partners and their merchant customers added confidence that the card reader they have chosen is safe, secure and compliant,” ROAM CEO Ken Paull said. “We’re proud to be among the first vendors to have earned this certification and ship one of the first Visa ready chip and sign mobile card readers.”
ROAM’s technology is used to power mobile point of sale solutions for some of the world’s biggest PSPs, acquirers and retailers, including companies like Vantiv, iPayment, Groupon and TaylorMade-Adidas.
Customers are provided with all aspects of a complete end-to-end mPOS solution, including card readers, management and development tools, professional services and mobile applications.
