Michael E. Fryzel, a member of the National Credit Union Administration board, updated members of the credit union industry on the agency’s priorities and industry environment.
Fryzel spoke before 200 credit union league presidents, chairmen and government affairs professionals at the American Association of Credit Union Leagues’ summer meeting on the overall economic challenges credit unions face, the future of the industry, pending legislation that could affect credit unions and proposed rules.
Additionally, Fryzel spoke on the restructuring of NCUA’s Office of Corporate Credit Unions to the Office of National Examinations and Supervision, as well as agency staff changes and regional realignment.
Fryzel highlighted the role credit union leagues play in the industry and urged the organizations to keep working to meet the needs of their members.
“Credit union leagues continue to play a vital role in the credit union industry. I encourage you to continue to strive to ensure that your member credit unions receive first-class information, education and training to, in turn, better serve their members,” Fryzel said.
