NCUA to hold webinar on outreach efforts for low-income, underserved communities

resized_NCUA_SEALThe National Credit Union Administration will hold a free webinar today at 2 p.m. on reaching out to underserved and low-income members.

The webinar, “Profiling Products and Services for Underserved Members,” is a follow-up to the Jan. 23 webinar, “Strategic Uses of the Low-Income Designation.”

The session will be open to all credit unions and will feature representatives from three credit unions, including James Benson, the CEO of Pennsylvania-based Elliot Federal CU; Robin Romano, the CEO of Arizona-based Marisol FCU; and Paul Woodruff, the vice president of community development at St. Louis Community CU based in Missouri.

Leaders from the credit unions will discuss the development of unique offerings such as citizenship loans; second-chance loans and checking accounts; payday loan alternatives funded by proceeds from the U.S. Treasury Community Development Financial Institutions Fund; and value-added partnerships with municipalities and community service organizations.
