NAFCU hosts webcast on exams, complaint process for credit unions

NAFCU_logo_editedThe National Association of Federal Credit Union’s Office of Consumer Protection hosted on Wednesday a free webcast explaining the agency’s formal complaint process, as well as differences between fair lending exams and other exams.

The webcast, which will be available for one year, provided credit union attendees with an overview of the agency’s goals and responsibilities related to fair lending oversight, compliance, expansion and chartering.

“At OCP, we take a broad view of the term ‘consumer protection,’” Gail Laster, the director of the OCP, said, adding the agency’s mission is about education in addition to enforcement.

Tonya Sweat, OCP’s director of consumer compliance policy and outreach, told credit union attendees to include links to NCUA on their websites so members can access general consumer information and their rights and privileges as credit union members.
