Merchant Data Systems offers credit card terminal set-up for bookstores

Merchant Data SystemsMerchant Data Systems recently announced an expansion to its merchant services  allowing book stores to establish secure credit card terminals.

The company offers a number of merchant processing services, including debit and credit card processing, check assurance, electronic account settlement, point-of-sale integration and equipment leasing.

According to data from the U.S. Census Bureau, there are 1.5 billion credit cards in circulation in the U.S., and only 29 percent of respondents indicated in the agency’s survey that they did not own a credit card.

While many big-box retailers have moved to implement technology that allows them to accept credit card and online payments, many smaller bookstores have not yet implemented the technology, which can lead to a decline in sales for these retailers.

MDS will set up the credit card terminal and add a shopping cart for the store’s website, thereby reducing labor costs and time, allowing the stores to focus on core operations. The company also offers a 24/7 tech support service.

“Merchant Data Systems offers 24 hour a day, seven day a week support that starts from the moment a client signs up with the company,” MDS President Drew Freeman said. “Once businesses decide to work with MDS they become part of the family.”
