MasterCard acquires Pinpoint loyalty provider for Asia Pacific region

220px-MasterCard_Logo.svgMasterCard announced last week that it has completed the acquisition of Pinpoint, an Australian loyalty and rewards services provider for the Asia Pacific region.

According to MasterCard, the acquisition will strengthen its position as a customer loyalty and rewards provider. Pinpoint, which was founded in Sydney in 1984, offers a full site of loyalty services for markets in China, Hong Kong, India, Taiwan and Japan.

“At MasterCard, we are committed to providing cardholders and customers with topnotch innovative rewards solutions tailored to their interests and needs,” Chris Fendley, the group head of loyalty solutions for MasterCard’s Asia/Pacific division, said. “With the completion of the acquisition, we will continue to focus on creating synergies to better serve our customers and cardholders. And with Pinpoint’s growing presence across Asia Pacific, we are excited for what the future holds for our issuers, merchants and cardholders.”

Pinpoint founder Kim Harding said the acquisition is “a significant step… in further developing the business in the region.”

“Pinpoint’s deep experience in loyalty and rewards, coupled with MasterCard’s vast network and capabilities, will position the company strongly to grow customer relationships with exciting and innovative programs,” Harding said.
