“LendingTree has always recognized the financial benefits of comparison shopping for mortgages, but we also realize this principle applies to any financial service,” Tom O’Neill, the senior director of product management at LendingTree, said. “Credit cards have drastically different options available to consumers, which is why we wanted to create a feature that allows consumers to quickly evaluate, compare and choose the card that works best for their needs.”
Consumers are able to customize their card options using the card comparison tool by selecting the desired type of card, rewards programs, card network and credit rating. The tool displays the average credit score of current cardholders, rewards programs associated with each card, customer reviews an interest rate information for each card option.
LendingTree said it plans to expand its card offerings after gauging public interest.
Cards featured on the site include Virgin America Visa Signature, Discover It cards, Barclaycard Arrival, Priceline Rewards Visa, Blue Cash Everyday, Citi Simplicity, American Express Serve, First Progress Platinum and Platinum Elite, L.L. Bean Visa, Williams-Sonoma Visa and Upromise.
