FDIC appoints three senior staff members

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. announced the appointments of three individuals to senior staff positions on Monday.

Doreen R. Eberley was named senior deputy director for supervisory examinations in the Division of Risk Management Supervision. Eberley, who began her career with the agency in 1987, has served at the FDIC as the New York regional director since 2007. As the new senior deputy supervisory director, Eberley will be responsible for the oversight of the FDIC’s examination and supervisory operations.

Andrew Gray, the FDIC’s former director of the Office of Public Affairs, will assume the position of deputy to the chairman for communications. Gray has served as the OPA director since April 2007 and was responsible for the FDIC’s public affairs activities. As new deputy to the chairman, Gray will direct the FDIC’s Office of Communications, which will replace OPA, as well as manage and coordinate all FDIC communications.

Eric Spitler, the former director of the Office of Legislative Affairs from 2006 to 2009, will return to the position to replace Acting Director Alice Goodman, who will retire after 24 years at the FDIC. Spitler, a 25 year employee at the FDIC, graduated in 1985 with a juris doctor with honors from the University of North Carolina School of Law.
