Other top contenders include Apple, Google, Amazon.com, Coca-Cola, Starbucks, IBM, Southwest, Berkshire Hathaway, Walt Disney, FedEx, General Electric, McDonald’s, BMW and Procter & Gamble, according to FORTUNE.com.
The list is compiled starting with 1,000 of the largest U.S. companies ranked by revenue and non-U.S. firms in Fortune’s with revenue of $10 billion or more. The 15 largest companies across each international industry and the 10 largest for each U.S. industry were chosen. Executives, directors and analysts are asked to rate a company based on a number of criteria, and in order to be listed on the survey, a firm’s score must rank in the top half of its industry.
All surveys for FORTUNE’s World’s Most Admired Companies list were conducted by Hay Group, a global management consulting firm.
Also listed in the top 30 most admired firms were Nordstrom, Microsoft, Nike, Whole Foods Market, Caterpillar, 3M, Target, Costco Wholesale, Johnson & Johnson, Exxon Mobil, Boeing, Wal-Mart Stores, JPMorgan Chase, Toyota Motor and UPS, FORTUNE.com reports.
