Primax, a provider of credit and debit card issuing and merchant acquisition programs and services, announced on Tuesday that it has joined Smart Card Alliance in order to promote the understanding, adoption and application of smart card technology.
“As one of the first companies in the U.S. to implement an EMV Chip card program for a U.S. financial institution, Primax is committed to its leading position in U.S. EMV smart card usage and to helping our bank and credit union clients employ this critical technology to stay competitive in the payment cards arena,” Primax President and CEO Ted Keith said. “We continue to strongly promote EMV Chip advancements in the U.S. and to utilize our extensive expertise and experience in this area to make this important advancement available to our clients.”
The EMV standard is designed to replace the traditional magnetic stripe cards with chip-enable cards as part of an effort to make cards more secure and enhance payment uniformity across the globe.
Headquartered in Massachusetts, Primax partners with U.S. institutions to implement customizable credit, debit and private label card programs, and to provide back-office support and customer care for the programs.
