Orange announced on Wednesday the launch of MasterCard-branded reloadable prepaid card Orange Cash in Spain.
The card allows consumers to make online payments, transfer funds to other users’ phones and cash withdrawal at MasterCard ATMs. No bank account is required to use the card, and the card is compatible with all telephone numbers for all Spanish carriers. The app is compatible with both Android and iOS operating systems.
“At Orange we continue investing in innovation to make people’s lives easier,” Yves Bazin, the director of product development at Orange Spain, said. “Therefore, the commitment of the company also extends to the development of new services such as Orange Cash that provides our customers with the best tools to get the most of the opportunities that information offers.”
Card users can tap to make payments at nearly two million contactless-enabled merchants across 63 countries worldwide. The card also features the option of payment via EMV chip or magnetic stripe at merchant locations that are not contactless-enabled.
“With this launch we keep adapting ourselves to the preferences and needs of Spanish consumers, who live in a more digital way every day,” MasterCard Spain Country Manager Ovidio Egido said. “Now consumers pay and make their purchases in a way that better fits with their needs and from any available device. Orange Cash is another step within our efforts to introduce innovative payment solutions in our country and to answer to this new reality.”
