220px-MasterCard_Logo.svgAfrAsia Bank and MasterCard launched Africa’s first travel rewards program on Wednesday, allowing World and Titanium cardholders to book travel in real time with more than 450 airlines and 200,000 hotels.

“MasterCard and AfrAsia Bank have collaborated for more than six years to bring customers innovative products that complement their local and international lifestyles,” Daniel Monehin, the division president of sub-Saharan Africa at MasterCard Africa, said. “We are thrilled that the bank has selected two premium MasterCard payment cards to introduce the first air miles rewards program in Mauritius.”

The rewards program, which was launched in collaboration with Infinia Services, allows cardholders to earn XtraMiles when they use their credit cards. Customers can receive rewards for everyday spending, bank deposits and investments.

Members will have access to their XtraMiles rewards program through an online portal, and monthly statements and offers will be shared through the portal. Current customers and members of individual airlines’ loyalty programs will earn rewards on those purchases, as well, when paying using qualifying MasterCard cards.

“At AfrAsia Bank, we believe that it is important to anticipate our customers’ needs and wants, and tailor the most rewarding experiences for them,” AfrAsia Bank CEO James Benoit said. “We are thrilled to be the first bank not only in Mauritius but in the African territory to introduce this revolutionary travel rewards program and living up to the strides we have taken to become our clients’ financial partner of choice. The collaboration with MasterCard and Infinia to introduce the XtraMiles rewards program cements our position as the best private bank in Mauritius, which is also in line with our strategy to serve our valued clients locally and globally.”
